Easkey Britton was not only the first woman,  she is also the very first person who surfed in Iran. It all started in 2010 when she travelled this unknown country together with movie maker Marion Poizeau to look for waves. They had no idea what to expect but what they found exceeded their expectations. Shoulder to head high waves and long empty beaches. Out of respect for the Iranian culture she only surfes with her body fully covered in a combination of leggins, boardshorts, longsleeve lyra and a headscarf. The first shortfilm got a lot of positive reactions and Easkey decided to come back to Iran to teach women and girls how to surf. She founded  the project Waves of Freedom to use the power of surfing for a positive change. Here you can watch the video about Easkeys work in Iran.
