Makua Rothman was born on the Northshore of Oahu, Hawaii, and started to surf in the age of 2 years. In 2002, he won the Billabong XXL Award Makua for the breaking in of a 66-foot wave (20m) – and the mere age of 18! Since then he has become an integral part of the big-wave scene.

But the surfer also is a great musician. Makua is his native Hawaii very connected and so does his music. It combines the original sounds of the ukulele with guitar, bass and drums. We think the song “Island Child” is really great for our surfcamp here on fuerteventura.
